What's next after the vacations? Market Report 4-8-23
Cheese mixed, protein concentrates continue to decline, spot milk price stable, skim milk powder and milk fat have continued to recover.
The market is very quiet with a rather negative sentiment. Especially GDT this week was very negative with -4.3%, it was the biggest loss since April this year. China is still not back as a buyer and it might stay that way.
We are also recording feed costs for dairy cows for the first time, these have fallen.
And in Switzerland?
In Switzerland, the biggest milk buyers have increased prices by 1 to 2 centimes for August.
On the question: where will the milk price stand after the vacations?
Since almost all contracts are closed do not expect any big movements until the end of September.
Our forecast for Q4:
Prices for Q4 are still very uncertain, we have many negative factors pushing on the market. The main ones are: budding recession, Wheat embargo and high feed prices, Continued high milk production.
