New equilibrium or pause before price rise? Market report 16-6-23
Protein concentrates still falling, skimmed milk powder falling, milk fat and cheese stable Spot milk price rising.
Spot milk prices have almost reached the level of contract prices, which means there seems to be a balance in the market.
Protein concentrates continue to reduce their lead, soon it will no longer be profitable to produce them.
At the beginning of this year, the market experienced a massive price drop, which came as a surprise to many. Some buyers suddenly found themselves sitting on large quantities of goods that they had bought at a high price last year. Fearing further falling prices, they ordered at very short notice.
About three weeks ago, the market started to stabilise and a slight upward trend appeared. Many suddenly started ordering for the third quarter. This led to rapidly increasing demand and prices. The market has now calmed down as almost everyone has stocked up for July. The next rally will start as soon as it becomes clear that the price increase will continue.
And in Switzerland?
Milk is getting short and Switzerland is preparing for price increases and will then probably drive itself into the wall.
To the question: New equilibrium or pause before prices rise
The milk market rarely remains in equilibrium for long - our forecast is therefore that as soon as producers run short of stocks, prices will rise. First increases for Q3 have already been announced and next week we expect the price for July to be known.
Our forecast for Q4:
We expect prices to continue to rise in Q4.
Cheespro Walo
The birth of Cheespro Walo: A perfect summer evening in a pretty pub. Our anticipation for the fresh food rose as we took in the lovely smell of tomatoes and herbs. But the cheese on the nachos, was so horrible that we would have preferred to cry. The mozzarella in the tomato salad was also tasteless and lacked bite and the cheese for our spaghetti was awful. A perfect evening was ruined, by bad cheese.
We decided it was time to develop the best cheese for professionals. With selected customers, we developed cheese that would make their products awesome. Soon we started getting requests for ready-made products with our ingredients. We do not produce these, so we networked our customers with these requests and the Cheespro Walo network was born.
The range includes 3 standard products:
- Cagliata Walo, low fat
- Gran-Pasta, for grating
- Hi-Lo optimised for high protein dishes
