The market is currently quiet and shows a negative trend. Due to the summer holidays, most sellers and buyers are already supplied for the third quarter. Those who currently have to sell goods are faced with the challenge of appealing to either bargain hunters or financially weak customers.

And in Switzerland?

Buyers are complaining about unsettled markets, as there are still cheese exporters who are trying to empty their warehouses by cutting prices. If you want to know which exporters these are, we recommend you read our report on the cheese market in May 2023. https://www.affineurwalo.ch/en/news/cheese-exports-may-2023-turnaround-swiss-cheese-market-may-2023

In addition, Mooh is raising the payout price by 1 Rp in August. However, we do not know the exact basis for their confidence.

On the question: Milk market where to?

Although the market is very quiet at the moment, amazing prices keep popping up, suggesting that some dairies are already struggling. Why else would they offer rock-bottom prices to uncertain customers in a saturated market? We are convinced that there will be a shakeout in the market in the next 12 months.

Our forecast for Q4:

The price cuts are unnecessarily unsettling customers, and we expect Q4 to be challenging. The weak players will again destabilise the markets, although buyers are aware that it is not possible to build a long-term strategy with these suppliers.
