Market development: Review and outlook

After the rapid rise last week, this week has calmed down somewhat. Some buyers are saying we'll wait, we can always buy expensively. Currently, manufacturers are not under pressure, and it will be exciting to see who can wait longer.

Market situation in Switzerland

The situation in Switzerland remains stable and, provided the market participants act responsibly, it will stay that way.

The Euro has weakened again; confidence in German politics was not very high.

The uncertainties remain the bluetongue disease, the trade policies of the USA, and the financial situation of some Swiss players.

How long can buyers wait?

Many buyers were caught off guard by the rising prices, as they expected lower prices in the spring, as every year, and many only ordered the bare minimum in the hope that prices would drop after all. However, if milk production does not increase soon, today could be the lowest price.

We will see.

Outlook for Q2 and Q3 2025

Q2 2025: For cheese and milk fat, we expect stable to rising prices, depending on the bluetongue disease and the weather.

Q3 2025: For the 3rd quarter, we expect rising to sharply rising prices for cheese and milk fat.

Not to forget: The trade policies of the USA can lead to unexpected upheavals in the milk market at any time.
