Is milk fat becoming tight? Market report from 22.9.23
Milk fat, skimmed milk powder and spot milk price rising, cheese stable, protein concentrates continuing to fall.
For some time now, milk powder and protein concentrates have been under pressure. In the last few weeks, cheese has been quite scarce and more me is probably flowing into cheese production.
We have been observing a slight downward trend in feed costs for weeks.
And in Switzerland?
The biggest milk trader in Switzerland has lowered its outlook for Q4 and we see more and more that the milk price will drop by 3 Rp in January.
On the question: Is milk fat becoming tight?
As cheese is in demand now and skimmed milk powder is under pressure, less milk fat is being produced, which could lead to a price rally. However, there is still enough butter in stock now.
Our forecast for Q4:
We join the largest Swiss milk trader and expect prices to continue to fall at the end of the year.
